The annual points trophy is awarded to the dog that has gained the most points at open and championship shows for the period from the Ladies Kennel Association (LKA) championship show in December each year up to the last qualifying show before the LKA in the following year. Each member/joint membership can enter one dog into the competition. The trophy is presented to winning dog/member at the dog of the year competition in December and is held by the member for one year.
Qualifying Points
With the exception of the Good Citizen Award, qualifying points can be gained from both Open and Championship shows.

One additional point is gained for the following awards:
Best of breed (BOB), Reserve BOB, Best puppy in Breed, Best Any variety Not Separately Classified (AVNSC), Reserve AVNSC, Best Puppy AVNSC, Champion Certificate (CC), and Res CC.
One point is awarded for the following achievements (copy of certificate to be attached to form):
Good Citizen Bronze, Silver and Gold
Points Form
The annual points form must be with the secretary or chairman by last training night preceding the Dog of the Year and Christmas Match held in December.
